August Family Fun Time

August has been busy but full of fun and family time.  To start off with, Scott and I took a hike up Mile High Trail in Eagle River. We initially just wanted to go on a hike, but  once we got there, we noticed lots of blueberries and thought about picking some.  This area has an abundance of blueberries, but they weren’t quite ready.  So, we continued on with our hike and enjoyed  the views of Eagle River Valley.

Scott had to go back to Kodiak for a few days, but I got to spend the day with the grandkids including the baby. This was the first time we have all just hung out together at my house. Usually its just Tylor and Maddy.

And I had a lot of help from Tylor with the baby. He is so good with her.

Then, I got to have lunch with Sonja and Maddy. Dessert was so good!

I took a trip to NC to visit my Mother and missed out on a couple of really important events this month.  The first event was Maddy’s birthday. She turned 6!! Fortunately, Scott was able to go celebrate with her and her birthday party was a lot of fun according to her.

The second event that I missed was Tylor’s and Maddy’s first day back to school. Maddy is Now a first grader!! She looks so happy to be going to school.

Maddy had wanted her hair colored rainbow colors. Sonja compromised.

But he is making his grandma so proud!!! He is joining a running club. Okay, I am proud of him anyway…my little runner! Can’t wait for his first practice….got to be there.

And do make things interesting, he got his hair colored too.  It’s the thing these days…..

While the kids were getting ready for school to start, Sonja was super sad about having to return to work. Maternity leave just isn’t long enough. Here she is with Charlie, both just way too cute.

Matt has his hands full with getting everybody where they need to go and keeping this little girl happy. Looks like he is doing a good job of it.

In the meantime, I was visiting my Mother in NC. We had a really good, relaxing week. Love just hanging out with her!! Terry had dropped his son off at college in Texas and stopped by on his return trip. It was so good to see him! I know he had to be tired after driving all that way, but I was so glad that he took the time to visit.  He got in pretty late.

I got to spend a little time with David, although he was having a pretty busy week himself.

I did get some running done on the treadmill while I was home. Too hot out for me. Mom was reading my book and giving me tips on how to improve my running. Mom always knows best, right?

So, yes it has been a busy month. I went to NC for only a week and when I returned, fall was in full bloom practically.

And the sunsets have been gorgeous. Kind of the only time I see the sun lately is when it is setting. We have had more than our fair share of rainy weather lately. There are definitely other places that could use it right now!

And I think Demi is getting more serious….or she just seriously missed me.

And my little babe is just getting bigger every day.
