This was quite the week of celebrations; Our country’s birthday, my birthday, and Tylor’s too! Even though I am trying to eat healthier, I just have to have a hot dog and apple pie on July 4th. It’s part of the celebration ??
Afterwards, Scott and I took the kids on a little walk down by the Eagle River Nature Center. They love hanging out there with us.
Scott was teaching Tylor the names of the mountain peaks in the area. He is a pretty quick learner.
And Miss Madelyn was learning about the animals in the area all by herself.
There was a bit of an uphill climb on our way back home and Madelyn complained about her legs being tired. Tylor says “no problem Maddy, hop on my back and I will give you a piggy back ride” and he did all the way to the top!! What an awesome big brother.
It was a great 4th of July with the kids. Matt picked them up and took them into Anchorage to watch the fireworks. Sonja missed out because she was working 🙁
And then it was my day to celebrate! Thanks to my family and friends for the Happy Birthday wishes!
And to Sonja for the beautiful flowers. Fortunately, Sonja did have the day off for my birthday and took me out for chocolate martinis.
These martinis were not the prettiest but they sure did taste good! And afterwards Scott took me to dinner. I was sooo hungry by the time I got to dinner at Haute Quarter Grill that I forgot to take a picture of my awesome pepper steak with mashed potatoes. It was so good! We had planned on a birthday dessert at the restaurant, but they didn’t really have anything that I wanted. So on the way home, Scott stopped and bought one of my favorites….
Hostess Zingers! Ha ha….so cute! And wow…57!!?? Really, can’t be that old. Five. Seven. Wow!! Amazing! BTW, I ate all three.
On our way home, we got another little treat.
The photo is a bit blurry because he was on the move and we didn’t want to get too close.
The following day was Tylor’s birthday and we had gone to the store the day before to pick out a birthday gift. Mom had sent $$ so he could go and pick out what he wanted.
And this is what he decided on! Looks like fun. On his big day, he headed out to my house to celebrate!
Sonja made these awesome salmon patties with a tangy red cabbage slaw and aioli sauce. So good!! I am bummed that I didn’t get pictures. Sometimes, I just get so wrapped up in the moment that I forget to take pictures!! Then after dinner, we had cake and ice cream.
It was a nice sunny day obviously! And that cake was soooo tasty! Tylor had a really great birthday! And he was especially happy to get a phone!
Just a wee too much sugar, ha ha!
And wine 🙂
So much to celebrate, so much fun! On to running!
This week went okay. I was a little tired during the week with all the activities plus all the travel and fishing from last week, but I got my running in!
This week I ran a total of 28.4 miles. Just a reminder – the targeted pace is per NYRR Virtual Trainer.
- Monday – off
- Tuesday – Flex day – 5 miles target 46-49 minutes. Ran an easy 5 miles at 46:15
- Wednesday – Regular Run 5 miles target 45-46 minutes. Ran 46:15 (9:04). Ran the hills out here in Eagle River. I was feeling like I need to run them more because it was taking more effort to run them today.
- Thursday – off. I took today off because I was feeling really tired and a little dehydrated from the birthday celebration. I was suppose to take Friday off so I will run today’s mileage then.
- Friday – Regular Run (AYF) Nice and easy 4 miles
- Saturday – Long run 10 miles Target 1:33-1:36 Ran 1:30:33 (9:03) I started out slow at around a 9:30 pace and ended faster at 8:25 pace. Each mile got a few seconds faster or stayed pretty much the same. The last 5 miles were under 9:00 minute/mile pace.
- Sunday – 4 miles at 37:42 (8:59) Ran the hills again, a little easier today. My run was a bit delayed because when I started out the door, I had a visitor.
His momma was just behind the truck! I had other things I could do until they decided to move on.?
What a week! And I can’t believe that week 3 of marathon training is already completed!
