2016 Bear Tooth Skinny Raven Shamrock Shuffle

March 17, 2016 1 Comment

I do not particularly like 5K races because for me, they are just a sprint from start to finish. I am not a sprinter by no means. I prefer the longer races where I have time to settle into my pace and just run. But, I signed up for the Skinny Raven’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K […]

The Right Running Shoe, Again!

March 17, 2016 Leave a Comment

I really miss those days when I could just go out and run. Yes, those days of my youth. I could run in any kind of running shoe and never get injured.  Nothing hurt. Now, with every pair of shoes I buy, I need to know the return policy because it is likely they will […]

Diet Does Matter

March 11, 2016 Leave a Comment

Eating healthy requires constant planning and awareness. Sometimes, I just don’t want to do it. I get exhausted from it all, and I would just like to go out and have whatever I want. But, even if I do that, its not without a constant dialogue of justifications going on in my head. I couldn’t […]

Therapy That Keeps Me Running

March 4, 2016 2 Comments

It is unseasonably warm here in Alaska. We are even having to haul in snow for our Iditarod Dog Race. Check out this video from the Associated Press. Unbelievable!  It is Alaska….right?   No we don’t have much snow, but we have had plenty of ice! I have gone from running on icy trails to running on […]

Wow, I just realized that my last post was a month ago!!! Yes life gets busy but that is not a good enough excuse to let my blog go to the wayside so I will need to do better than this….anyway, moving on…. A couple of things: I had a visit with Dr. E at […]

Why I Hate the Treadmill

January 30, 2016 1 Comment

The weather here in Alaska has not been ideal for running outdoors. It’s very icy which makes for very treacherous conditions. But I am committed to my running plan of not missing more than two days in a row. Being that I work 12 hour shifts, I need to run on those days that I […]

I’m in again….

I was really worried that somehow I was going to screw up my entrance into the NYC Marathon for 2016. I wasn’t sure how to claim my spot, but once the registration opened today, I was prepared to figure it all out. And it was sooo easy! I logged onto NYRR  and I got a pop-up […]

NYC Marathon…..

January 3, 2016 Leave a Comment

After taking a couple of months off to give my heel more of a chance to improve, I decided to get back to running on this New Year’s Day. Its been kind of interesting taking the time off. Some days my heel appears to be better and some days it seems much worse! My […]

To a Healthier New Year

December 29, 2015 2 Comments

There are all kinds of changes any one of us can make to have a healthier New Year.  My goal was to announce my addiction to Cokes and my plan to give them up for good. I have stopped drinking Cokes  for a month or two at a time, but I haven’t been able […]

Spectators at the New York City Marathon

November 9, 2015 2 Comments

Flying into New York and seeing the Verrazano Bridge was so amazing. I thought I would feel really sad about deferring my entry, but I had accepted that I would not be running this year. I was going to be in New York to enjoy the events and the city!! I live at the end […]

But, despite that look what she did! She is so talented and creative. She remembered Mom as someone who was always stylish. She took pride in her appearance. A specific memory inspired Sonja to make these beautiful clay earrings! How special is that?
