It is so nice to be running in 50 degree weather!! And the snow is finally melting. Awesome day out. Yes I was able able to return to running after that week off, although my foot is still a little tender but it doesn’t really hurt during the run. I am restricting my miles for now. The real test will be when I start increasing those miles.
I think this achilles problem is something I will just have to manage on a daily basis. Run if it doesn’t hurt and rest if it does. Pretty simple.
My chiropractic appointment last week was good, but Dr. E was just as perplexed as I was with the way the pain just comes and goes. I decided to forgo the appointment this week because after the LLLT (low level laser therapy), my heel just seemed more tender. Just taking a break from all the therapies for now while I try to pin point the aggravating factors to this injury.
However, I am still doing leg strengthening exercises along with calf raises. Daily icy and stretching is also a part of my routine. One of the things I have added is after the dynamic stretching warm-up, I do some light static stretching as well. I know that static stretching prior to the run is not consistent with the newest running data, but I have to figure out the best regimen that is going to work for me.
The week wasn’t completely wasted though. I did have some fun especially during Easter with my grandkids! Love, Love, Love them!!
Unfortunately, I have to work this week-end so I won’t get to see these guys 🙁 nor will I be running. I work 12 hour shifts with a 45 minute to an hour commute which makes it difficult to find the time or energy to run. So, I generally just make those work days my rest days. Looking forward to next week to see how the running goes.
Happy Running!
